SPONSOR-A-CHILD

The humanitarian relief efforts, which are designed to improve the health and welfare of 300+ children, at the five institutions that Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC) and friends support, are funded primarily by The Sponsor-a-Child Program.
The first and foremost concern is to ensure that the children receive nutritional and well-balanced meals, along with medical and dental care. We prioritize the needs and all Sponsor-a-Child monies first go towards nutrition and medical needs and regular medical check-ups. In some cases funds remain and those are prioritized according to needs for clothing, heaters, etc.
Every February we solicit individuals, classes, groups, and organizations, asking them to sponsor a child for a year. The one-time cost is currently (2010-11) $275/year and covers the above-mentioned life-essential items. All funds are wired into our account in Tbilisi and the 12-month program is overseen by two full-time Georgian staff. All vendors (for food, clothing, clinics, doctors, plumbers, etc) are hired only on a contractual basis. Our books are audited each year by the Georgian government and by private auditors. Every cent (less 10% for administrative overhead) is designated for the children.
We contact the previous year’s sponsors to see if they would like their same child and funding is available either by check or on secured web-site.
