Samtredia Secondary School for Juvenile Delinquents

Samtredia Secondary School for Juvenile Delinquents, commonly referred to as simply Samtredia, is in the Imereti (western) region of Georgia.  Peachtree Road first worked there in 2002 and our efforts have been ongoing ever since.

Samtredia, while it is a detention center for 24 Juvenile boys from ages 12-16, is a wonderful safe haven for youth who have had very difficult family lives. The director, Gia, and his staff are devoted to the education, welfare and love of these boys. We have witnessed transformations of these youth as they respond to the nurturing, yet disciplined, atmosphere at Samtredia.

Gia always thinks of his boys and requests special things such as a sports court, team uniforms, a hairstyling and bread-baking vocational/training workshops, a keyboard so they can sing and perform ~~ all positive initiatives which we have been able to accomplish thanks to private donors.

Sponsor-a-Child provides three nutritional, balanced meals for these growing boys. They also have regular medical and dental check-ups, along with receiving needed medicines. As with any growing and active boys, shoes and clothing are constantly needed and we are able to provide these, along with bedding, towels and linens.  For the first time in their lives these boys are loved unconditionally!

SAMTREDIA CHILD PROFILE

Meet Vova who is 13 and new to Samtredia. His mother, father and oldest sister are in jail and he is addicted to glue-sniffing.  Samtredia offers a stable and loving environment where he is monitored but more importantly where he is loved, encouraged and given self-worth.  He enjoys the relaxed atmosphere and being with other boys his age ~ participating in sports and even bread-baking!
